Tapas Club is the birth of Spain’s sophisticated delicacy to the wider public, offering authentic flavours from the Iberian Peninsula. Helmed by Executive Chef Jose Angel Alonso (also the Executive Chef of Binomio Spanish Restaurant) and one-star Michelin Chef Manuel Berganza (the first Spanish chef in U.S. to earn a one-star Michelin rating), Tapas Club presents diners with an exquisite palate and creativity with the richness of classic Spanish flavours.

Bonded by a close-knit ten-year friendship, Spanish chefs Alonso and Berganza believe in serving the cuisine that is close to their hearts. A unique cuisine which is much perceived as a fine-dining concept, both Spanish chefs envision to offer these special flavours at a much affordable pricing in a premium restaurant setting.

Expect a seamless pairing and synergy of two great Chefs at work as they put together their experiences from Singapore and New York to produce Spanish food of the highest standard made available at only Tapas Club.

Having established a culinary foundation at Hotel Echaurren in Spain, Executive Chef Jose Alonso further honed his culinary skills over a 10-year period, working with many celebrity chefs, including Michelin Award Winning Sergi Arola, Francis Paniego and Spain’s most celebrated chef, Santi Santamaria.

Drawing from his work experience, Chef Alonso believes in serving cuisine that remains true to its Spanish roots and is prepared using only the freshest ingredients of the highest quality. Like so many cutting edge chefs, Chef Alonso cooks to invite and believes in respecting the produce.

As the Executive Chef of Binomio Spanish Restaurant, Chef Alonso was honoured with an invitation as the hosting chef at the renewed World Gourmet Summit 2016 to showcase and provide diners with sensational Spanish spread that upheld the richness of Spaniard tradition. In addition to his portfolio, Chef Alonso curated a 5-day Spanish gastronomic journey in the newly refurbished Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur where Spanish creations were handcrafted to culinary excellence and enjoyed by many.

Chef Alonso will continue to bring his exquisite palate and creativity to Tapas Club as the Executive Chef, a role in which he delights guests with the richness of authentic Spanish flavours.

One-star Michelin chef Manuel Berganza won acclaim as chef at Sergi Arola Gastro and La Broche in Madrid. He shifted to New York to open Andanada and propel the Spanish restaurant to a Michelin-starred concept since 2014 for a consecutive period of three years, before moving to Singapore to take on the opening of Tapas Club. As the Executive Chef of Tapas Club, Chef Berganza has evolved his approach so that the culinary traditions of Spain do not get lost in a deconstructed haze of foam.

The foundation of Chef Berganza’s cuisine is strongly rooted in the authentic flavours of Spain but he is uniquely skilled at enhancing the cuisine with new, and even playful touches that rejuvenate the original without obliterating its essence.

Chef Berganza was invited to the prestigious Haute Cuisine De Verbier event in Switzerland, where Michelin Star awarded chefs around the world gathered to create new gastronomic experiences. In 2016, he was also invited to the event “Chefs on Tour Iberostar” in Mexico, where he designed some new creations with other leading chefs.
